Dog Lips and Bunny Ears

It is impossible to give a dog a good set of bunny ears

See what I'm saying?
The elusive Elvis lip picture has finally made its debut. I have been trying to snap a picture of his silly face every since we've had him and this was a very happy photobooth accident!
CAN YOU SEE IT????!!!!
Dr. Appointment tomorrow at 4! I hope its nothing.

Charlie and the Cat

Since I've been on summer break for the past couple weeks I haven't been getting up as early as I did when I had to go to class. This morning, instead of my usual 10am wake up (I know...I'm not a morning person) I had to get up at 7:30 to have time to let CB run around before I took him to the groomer. I had an old friend help me with the early for me wake up call.

But as Chuck-a-roo and I were playing in the park I realized how much I missed being up somewhat early. It really is nice to be out in the crisp morning air with a gallon of coffee and a crazy pup. CB likes it too because he gets to play with his cat friend.
If we go to the little park early enough we always see his little (ok its a huge cat) friend. I think Charlie is more excited to see the cat then the cat is ever to see Charlie. But this is pretty much what happens every morning.
-Charlie gets hot on the trail of something
- Charlie sees Cat
- Charlie thinks Cat wants to play and runs toward him
- Charlie "plays" with Cat by running in circles around him until he gets bored (up to 10 minutes...really)
- Charlie gets bored and Cat comes over to get some petting.
(No picture, Cat moves too much) Seriously this is the friendliest (most likely stray) cat.
Not 10 minutes later Charlie then licks and walks on this dude
The End!
Ok the snail part doesn't happen on a daily basis, but it happened when I was taking those pictures.

CB is now back from Pink Pucci and looking as handsome as ever. They were extremely sweet and he was really happy when I went to pick him up. I'd say his first visit to the puppy spa was a success. He was really needing his nails trimmed (among some other things.) Obviously he wanted a post groom photo shoot.
Finding the perfect spot

Wishing he had puppy sun glasses

Look at that shine!!!

Glad to be home

Especially with his duck

Besides the CB adventures I've been trying to make an appointment with a sports medicine doctor and now I'm just waiting for them to call back. The doctor is an iron man and ultra runner, and their website says their solution isn't to tell their patients to stop running/biking/swimming/etc so I'm feeling a lot better about it. It's good to have someone understand and I really just want to be healthy and running around.

Do you take your pet to the groomers?

Have you had any good experiences with doctors? Bad?

How do you feel about google+? (If you need/want an invite just let me know)

Summer Favorites

I've been a little non existent on the internet front the past week or so.
Seriously, I even deactivated my facebook account. Who am I?
But I've been trying to enjoy my summer break as much as I can instead
of melting my brain on the internet all day. Instead I've been melting
my brain watching movies all day :]

I've gotta say that I love summer. Sure, most of that love stems from not
having to be in school (the whole time), but there are lots of other
reasons too.  But these are just 3 of my summer favorites.

1.  Outdoor activities
Swimming, biking, hiking. You name it and I love it. I love not having to
go to the gym to get my sweat on when its not a running day.

2. Shave Ice
[source]
Sure I'm probably a bad blogger for not being obsessed with frozen yogurt,
but I really like not being sick after I eat my frozen treatsShave ice and
snow cones (the soft ones, not the gross crunchy baseball game ones) are
my fro-yo. I kinda like snow cones better because there are a million more
flavors, but I take what I can get and lime is delicious.
(Side note: a lot of the pictures I found when I looked for shaved ice pictures involved Obama. I thought it was hilarious)

3. Tank tops
I love them all, but these are some of my favorites and wants (apparently
I only like racer backs)

tanks

And those are my top three! Don't get me wrong, there are a million things I like about summer, but the list would go on indefinitely if I didnt stop somewhere. Perhaps I'll do a part two?

On a not so lovey-dovey note, my knee is still bothering me. Its not as bad as it was, but I've been getting about .5 miles before it starts to hurt and I stop. It's getting frustrating, but If it doesn't stop in the next week I'm going to go to the doctor. I'm hoping for a miracle cure in the next couple days though so that I can keep on my doctorless streak.

Happy summer!

What are your favorite things about summer?

When you have a running injury do you wait or go to the doctor imediately?

Have any of you had trouble posting with polyvore or just me? Layout nightmare today :[

1-10

I know all 5 of you that read this have been eagerly awaiting my return to bloggerville. (Similar to margaritaville. Just as much tequila, but a few more pictures.) After taking zero pictures of anything that had to do with my birthday celebration, I am back. You can rest easy now. Speaking of rest, Ive been doing a lot of the lately because my knee started hurting again last time I ran. I'm feeling good now and I got some new shoes and I'm gonna take them out for a test run later today. Here's to hopin'.
(I got brooks adrenaline gts 11 in case you JUST HAVE TO KNOW.) I'll let you know how they are after a run and also my experience with buying them. But today is all about being 23.

I still dont know how to match. Yes thats pink on pink.
I've been thinking of the 23 things I want to do this year....What you dont do that? But you're a blogger (or blog reader) so you almost definitely make at least 5 lists a day, right? But I've decided to break it up into manageable bites and think of the first 10 things I want to accomplish during this year. Some are big, some are small, some are just odd and you will question my sanity. Thats cool, it happens. But here it goes.
1. pr my half marathon.
Um this is going to be cake. I ran my whole half at a super easy pace and didn't push myself at all. Ideally I want sub 1:50, but we'll see. Beating 2:13 will suffice.
2. Get a haircut
I don't remember the last time someone else cut my hair....could be interesting.
3. Go to a state I've never been to.
I haven't counted recently, but I've probably been to around half of them, so we'll see where this takes me. Oregon perhaps? Last year I went to Nevada and Washington.
4. Get Chuck-a-roos tooth pulled
Another weird one. He has a baby tooth that needs to be taken out and I've been putting it off because it isnt life threatening but they said the sooner the better.
5. Ride my bike once a week.
Self explanatory. Good cross training...also I love riding my bike. This could lead to something else, but that, again, is for another day.
6. Go through all the boxes we still have
It's been about a year of living in LA and there are still some packed boxes....whoops
7. Put some art up on the wall
Self explanatory, again. I love this idea
8. Gait analysis
Already done. Is that cheating? Oh well.
9. Cross off at least 3 books from my reading list.
This should be easy. I have a million books on my reading list that I never seem to get around to because I find new books to read. It feels like unfinished business.
10. Run a sub 25 5k.
I'm not sure how easy or hard this will be. If its too easy this will be updated, but if it's hard, bring on the challenge.
So there it is, the first 10 and 13 more to go.

On a sorta-kinda birthday related note, I got a pickle after leaving magic mountain on Saturday and was so bewildered by the FIVE SERVINGS they suggested. Who eats 1/5 of a pickle?
super blurry, sorry
Its big, but not 5 servings big
Is that outrageous to anyone but me?

Do you pay much attention to serving size?

Do you have any current goals?

What is your favorite State and what do you suggest doing there?

To Do

Ive got a list
Charlie is being all jelly while I try to knockout my stats review
And I completely forgot about the star of the show last night. On the menu: grilled lobster tail, sea bass, asparagus and red potatoes. Can it be 4th of July every day?
The Matt Catt was the grill (pan) master. It might be his new full time position. Off to knock out that list (which hilariously involves writing another list....) and drink my weight in water after all the liquid carbs from last night. :]

Apple Pie Day

I had good intentions to wake up early to get some running and homework in, but that didn't exactly happen. Instead, I woke up with my throat feeling swollen and itchy and decided to try to sleep it off. I'm not 100%, but definitely better than I was this morning.

So after a couple hours of this (Yay my last test is on Thursday!!)
I embarked on my apple pie plans. Holidays are made for pie...and I guess celebrating our country or whatever. I used a basic pie dough recipe and filling (Thanks Martha and Paula)....except I kinda forgot the lemon in the filling. Its still getting in my mouth.
At one point the dough looked like this.
I dont like big apple chunks. Its all about slices here.
And the moment you've all been waiting for....The pocket pies! I figured two of us didn't really need a whole pie to ourselves so I made 3 babies instead. Everything is better in baby form... To make the star topped one I just cut out lots of little stars with a cookie cutter and layered them over the pie filling. Easy as...cake.

Brown sugar in a jar is much less of a mess! just sayin
Charlie sat in his chair while we ate dinner. I say his chair because no one else really likes it. Its not particularly good looking or comfortable, but pupperoo seems to be into it.
On a completely unrelated note I was particularly pleased with my strands today. Good thing no one but Matt and pups got to see!

How did you celebrate?

Weekend Rundown

Wow the weekend flew by.  Good thing everyone in the Charlie house has tomorrow off to celebrate. So just a little recap of the weekend and the few pictures I snagged. Seriously I'm the worst blogger. We went to Benihana because I had never been and I didnt have a camera on me of any sort. Either way it was fun and delicious and you'll just have to go yourself if youre curious like me and have never gone.

Some of our finds on our walks

An elephant or an M....cant decide

Much more purple in person

H was super hot. It was a warm weekend her in CA

Lots of oats were consumed.  First they looked like this.....

But they almost always ended up looking like this with pbj and eaten en route to work. (oops!)

"If I open my eyes really hard no one will notice how tired I am."
I know my mirror is gross
I think it might be time for more blush...
Lots of these two beverages were consumed

I ate my first (not dried) fig! Delicious! Too bad its an awful picture.
These were worn a couple times.

Party on and get ready for some sweet treats tomorrow.

Fit [mind] Friday

Uh oh, the "four letter word" feminism, and an f-word at that. But all joking aside, cue article.
How to talk to little girls.
...Have you read it now?
I think its very interesting and Bloom makes a great point that we should put focus on something  other than appearance. It definitely made me evaluate how I approach people. Just a little something to think about this beautiful Friday.  Now on to the food!

Quinoa porridge (?) I guess?  I had a lot of quinoa leftover from dinner so I warmed it up in almond milk, sprinkled doused it in cinnamon and topped it with strawberries and peanut butter.
It sounded a lot better than it was. The strawberries were purrrrrfect, but I'm not a sweet quinoa liker I guess. Sir Charles seemed to like the bite he snagged though.

Todays run was an easy 4 miles. Nothing to report really. I want to keep healthy and injury free before some real training begins. More "cross training" time with CB now :]

Happy July!

What are your favorite berries?
Strawberries here, but I am a lover of all berries.. It takes a lot of self restraint to not eat the whole container in one sitting strawberries though.

Do you have July 4th plans?
a picnic! you'll see :]

Birthday Countdown

It is exactly one week until my birthday. Holy crap I haven't even planned anything. WHAT. THE. HELL. Ah well, guess we will just see what happens. I'm thinking a trip to Magic Mountain.
[source]
Um heck to the yes. I've been in CA for two years (on July 4th) and I still havent managed to get to Magic Mountain. Last year we went to San Diego Wild Animal Park. Seriously go if  you live anywhere close or are visiting. We got to see the handler feeding the cheetahs. Amazing experience.

My knee is feeling mucho better. Probably because I've been threatening it...or perhaps because I've been lazy and my idea of cross training has been taking CB on long walks and taking pictures of the pretty flowers.
he peed on this immediately after
Eating taco left overs out of obnoxious orange bowls probably helps too.
This was later topped with froached eggs and more tapatio...of course. If you poured it on Chuckaroo Id probably eat him too.

TOMORROW I RUN. Hallelujah.

What shoes are you currently running it? (I need new ones)

What did you do for your last birthday?

Will you buy me some shoes so I have something to wear for my birthday?
